Dams and hydraulic structures

Studio Masciotta deals with the design of the dam starting from the preliminary studies and investigations until the final constructive design.

The firm has participated and has performed the stability analyses of many large dams and their appurtenant structures (concrete piers, spillways, bridges, control rooms, galleries, outlets).

The firm currently deals with the calculation of rockfill, concrete and RCC dams (gravity, arch-gravity and arch dams), of weirs and of earth-cum-masonry dams.

Studio Masciotta has carried out, on behalf of Studio Pietrangeli, the stability analyses of GIBE III Gravity Dam in Ethiopia, which has been recently completed and it is currently (2017) the highest RCC Dam in the World (250 meters ox maximum height).
